Urban Disaster: 7 Dead and 200 injured in fire explosion

7 people died and about 200 people are injured including 51 seriously injured people (among them 12 were admitted to Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery unit and 39 were in Dhaka Medical College) from the fire accident incident which happened at around 7 pm. Most of the injured people were residing inside the house or were bus and rickshaw passenger and passersby. The incident took place in a restaurant named Shwarma House situated in 79 circular road, Rakhi Villa in Moghbazar. The reason behind the fire explosion is still unknown.

A 5 member committee has been formed by Fire service and civil defense office and another 3 member committee has been formed by Titas Gas to search for the reason of the incident. In an interview, IGP said the fire exploration department of Bangladesh Police and fire service will jointly conduct an investigation. Concerned authorities are suspecting the incident was caused due to gas explosion. According to Titas Gas two LPG cylinders caused the explosion. Though many are speculating AC, generator, compressor explosion to be the cause of the explosion.

According to DMP commissioner, 7 buildings adjacent to the explosion spot and 3 buses have been damaged in the incident. The three storey building which housed Shwarma House and various shops and showroom is severely damaged
