Disaster Forum, in coordination with Sphere Community Bangladesh (SCB), is pleased to announce a 3-day paid non-residential Sphere Training to be held in Dhaka from 16 to 18 August 2026.
The training is designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the Sphere Handbook (2018) and its practical application in humanitarian response. Through interactive sessions, case studies, group work, and practical exercises, participants will explore the Humanitarian Charter, Protection Principles, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), and technical minimum standards across key humanitarian sectors.
About the Sphere Handbook
The Sphere Handbook is one of the world’s most widely recognized references for humanitarian principles and minimum standards in humanitarian response. It provides practical guidance to ensure that people affected by disasters, conflicts, and crises receive assistance that is timely, appropriate, accountable, and delivered with dignity.
For more than two decades, Disaster Forum has played a leading role in promoting Sphere standards in Bangladesh. As the organization responsible for translating and reviewing all Bangla editions of the Sphere Handbook, Disaster Forum has contributed significantly to strengthening humanitarian quality, accountability, and professional capacity across the country.
Training Objectives
The training aims to:
- Build participants’ knowledge of the Sphere Humanitarian Charter, Protection Principles, and Minimum Standards.
- Strengthen practical skills for applying Sphere standards in humanitarian response.
- Promote quality and accountability in humanitarian action.
- Encourage integration of Sphere standards into organizational policies and field operations.

- Mid-level managers working in humanitarian and disaster management programmes
Selection will consider professional experience, current responsibilities, interest in humanitarian quality and accountability standards, and gender balance and inclusiveness.

Participation Fee
BDT 6,000 (Six Thousand Taka) per participant

- Sphere Handbook (Bangla) per participant, one Sphere Pocket Book (Bangla) per participant, one Sphere Handbook (English) per organization,
- Lunch
- Tea/Coffee during breaks
- Certificate of participation
Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation.
